Getting Started with Constructor
The first step in getting to know Constructor is to become familiar with the default interface layout.
The Default Layout
Tools Panel
Includes all of the constructor functions for creating and modifying your brushes and static mesh geometry. Also includes advanced view control options.
Properties Panel
Shows contextual properties based on the current tool or object selected. This is where numeric entries for tools appear, as well as advanced texture alignment tools when in face selection mode.
Values
This is a non-interactive panel that gives you information about the 3-space location of your cursor.
Viewports
By default there are 4 viewports: Top, Perspective, Back and Right that allow you to view and interact with your scene from a variety of angles.
Selection Modes Panel
Allows you to switch which aspect of the geometry you wish to interact with. Also allows you to disable selection of entities or shapes.
Scene Panel
Lists the current scene's hierarchy of brushes and other objects.
Materials Panel
Allows you to select materials from a list or pull them from the current object, or open the texture browser window. You can then apply the current texture to your selection in the scene.
Undo/ Selection Panel
Shows the scene's undo history. On other tabs in this panel you can create selection sets, or select by a variety of categories such as material and object type.
